The hotel
The overall design of the Hôtel du Suquet is based on the principle of discovery: the revelation of the Aubrac region. The architecture is as austere as the landscape itself, drawing on its stylistic codes and materials – light, vegetation and minerals – to interpret them in a pure, contemporary manner. Divided into three areas (restaurant and guest rooms), the elongated buildings are arranged perpendicular to a “draille” – the 'access route to Laguiole Church' – which offers one of the site's most striking views.
The guest rooms are sometimes open to the sky, sometimes immersed in the garden and the landscapes of the Aubrac. A true escape is guaranteed. From this place, which we have sought to make magical, the Aubrac region unfolds through vantage points and framed views, delighting all our senses. An Aubrac that reaffirms the true values of goodness and beauty.
Le Suquet Restaurant
The main body of the building – including the restaurant, reception and lounge – is a slender, basalt-like form that seems to spring from the earth: slanted and massive, reminiscent of a traditional “buron”. It serves as the roof, floating above a glass plinth that lends it an airy quality, contrasting with its subterranean origins and evoking a sense of emergence. The dining room opens out onto the outdoors, allowing light to stream in. The lounge area, at its airy end, is entirely glazed.
The establishment was designed in 1992 in collaboration with architects Éric Raffy and Philippe Villeroux, and refurbished in partnership with the A+B agency and Thierry Chalaux.
MENUS AND A LA CARTE
To help you choose, we offer three set menus and à la carte dishes.
The Environment
Since the creation of Le Suquet, the Bras family has adopted a holistic approach centered on respect for nature.
The building's design was designed to blend into the landscape and preserve ecological continuity for biodiversity. It was constructed using local materials (granite, slate, wood, etc.).
Every aspect has been designed with nature's preservation in mind (use of certified products, reduction in paper use, waste management, water management, sustainable grass cutting, etc.), as well as its promotion (collaboration with farmers, market gardeners and other local producers who employ sustainable agriculture).
The European Ecolabel (certification number: FR/051/222) for tourist accommodation, which the Bras du Suquet hotel has held since 2013, is awarded to establishments that commit to a set of specifications 'based on respect for the environment' common to all European Union countries.
Always mindful of preserving the environment, we invite you to play your part in this initiative by taking the following simple steps:
Reducing energy consumption
Close the windows when the heating or air conditioning is on (this also keeps insects out of the room)
Switch off the lights before leaving the room using the main switch, and switch off any appliances that are running
Water management
Please ensure you turn off the taps properly
Waste management
To make sorting easier, please leave glass, bottles and newspapers on the table
Please hand in your used batteries at reception
Do not flush sanitary products or wet wipes down the toilet; please use the bin provided for this purpose
