The hotel

The overall design of the Hôtel du Suquet is based on the principle of discovery, the revelation of the Aubrac region. The architecture is as rigorous as the land itself, adopting its codes and materials—light, vegetation, and minerals—to interpret them in a pure, contemporary way. Divided into three zones (restaurant and rooms), the elongated buildings are arranged perpendicular to a drovers' road, the "access road to the church of Laguiole," a prominent viewpoint in the area.
The rooms sometimes reach for the sky, sometimes embrace the garden and the open spaces of the Aubrac. Escape is guaranteed. From this place, which we envisioned as magical, the Aubrac unfolds through viewpoints and framing, delighting all our senses. An Aubrac that reassures us of the true values of goodness and beauty.

The Le Suquet restaurant

The main body of the establishment—restaurant, reception, and lounge—is a long, slender basalt form that emerges from the earth, slanted and massive, like a rediscovered shepherd's hut. It forms the roof, floating on a glass base, which lends it an ethereal quality, contrasting with its subterranean origin and evoking a sense of emergence. The restaurant opens to the outside, allowing light to filter in. The lounge area, at its uppermost point, is entirely glazed.

The establishment was designed in 1992 with the collaboration of architects Éric Raffy and Philippe Villeroux and redesigned with the agency A+B and Thierry Chalaux.

MENUS AND MENU

To guide your desires, 3 menus and à la carte dishes are offered.

The environment

Since the creation of Le Suquet, the Bras family has opted for a comprehensive approach centered on respect for nature.

The architecture was designed to blend into the landscape and preserve ecological continuity for biodiversity. The building was constructed using local materials (granite, slate, wood, etc.).

Everything has been designed with a view to preserving nature (use of certified products, reduction of paper, waste management, water management, reasoned mowing, etc.), as well as enhancing it (collaboration with farmers, market gardeners and other local producers, who practice reasoned agriculture).

The European Ecolabel (certification number: FR/051/222), a tourist accommodation service, which the Bras du Suquet hotel has held since 2013, is awarded to establishments that commit to a set of specifications "based on respect for the environment" common to all countries of the European Union.

Always mindful of preserving the environment, we invite you to participate in this initiative through these few simple actions:

Reduction in energy consumption

  • Close the French doors when the heating or air conditioning is on (this also prevents insects from getting into the bedroom)
  • Turn off the lights before leaving the room using the main switch, as well as any appliances that are currently running

Water management

  • Make sure to close the taps properly

Waste management

  • To make sorting easier, leave the glass, bottles, and newspapers on the table
  • Drop off your used batteries at reception
  • Do not flush sanitary products and wipes down the toilet; be sure to use the designated bin
