The harvest of friendship
Initiated by Sergio Calderon, the sommelier of Le Suquet with Bernard and Myriam Plageoles, in 1991, it has since been the most anticipated day of the year for the restaurant teams, the harvest day at the Plageoles, a family of winemakers located in Cahuzac-sur-Vère, in the heart of the Gaillac vineyard.
A day of sharing among vineyards and friendship
Co-organized by the Bras KC association, which brings together all those who work in Le Suquet as well as the "veterans" who used to work there, this day is exceptional in every way, and no one would dream of missing it. It was born from the friendship between the Plageoles and Bras families and their teams.
"It all begins with the harvest of grapes from a reserved plot," explains Sébastien Bras, "which, in good years, will give rise to a special Bras KC cuvée from the House." This is followed by a tour of the estate with an explanation of the process by Florent Plageoles.
An edition for Sergio Calderon
Les Plageoles also welcomes all friends, neighbors, and winemakers from the surrounding area. The Bras family, too, have been keen to share this tradition with some of their friends over the years. Pierre and Michel Troisgros, Jane and Olivier Roellinger, and Pierre Gagnaire have already participated in the festivities. The meal begins in a convivial atmosphere, featuring Aligot du Suquet, an asado, Michel Belin's famous fruit tarts, an abundance of wines generously provided by local winemakers eager to share their treasures, and many other delicacies.
People drink and laugh joyfully to the sound of a band that came to make sure everyone danced until the end of the night.
This year, the day will be a little special. It will be dedicated to Sergio Calderon on the occasion of his last season at Le Suquet. Something to make the festival even more wild…and the faces the next day a little more tired, but delighted by this celebration of the joy of living.
